This series was unofficially announced in the early 2014 by this sketchy picture on Regina Martini’s Auction site:
I knew Pelikan were aware of criticisms on the brown tortoise and the lizard M101Ns, so this time ought to be the “third time lucky” release, so I had been eagerly waiting ever since. Then soon after I looked at the Pelikan’s official stock photos in June, I preordered a copy through a dealer which I had no previous dealing with, Iguana Sell, a few months before its official release in mid September.
To be perfectly honest, I was still skeptical when paying the down payment, considering the previous M101N quips. Stock arrives. Paid the balance. Then soon after a package flew from Spain to Australia in a few days, and after a slight hiccup with UPS, I picked it up at the post office, still with skepticism. But the moment I opened the box, I have no regret whatsoever, it turns out WAY better than my expectations. This time they got everything just right:
– Correct red resin colour to match a slightly darkened 101N red original.
– Stunning binde! The honey yellow is so scrumptious with plenty of striations. That is good because it hides the binde joint eyesore.
– I love the (quite rare on a Pelikan) yellow ink window. The same as on the yellow Toledos.
Third time lucky? Absolutely.
